Stop Bullying Now

What is bullying?

Bullying happens when someone hurts or scares another person on purpose and the person being bullied has a hard time defending himself or herself. Usually, bullying happens over and over. According to the Barbers Hill ISD Student Code of Conduct, bullying is defined in the following way:

Bullying is written or oral expression or physical conduct that a school districtâ?Ts board of trustees or the boardâ?Ts designee determines:

  1. To have the effect of physically harming a student, damaging a studentâ?Ts property, or placing a student in reasonable fear of harm to the studentâ?Ts person or damage to the studentâ?Ts property; or
  2. To be sufficiently severe, persistent, or pervasive to create an intimidating, threatening, or abusive educational environment for a student.

Bullying can also happen online or electronically. Cyber bullying is when children or teens bully each other using the internet, mobile phones, or other cyber technology.
