HORTICULTURAL SCIENCES
(INHORT) This course involves the production, marketing, processing, and use of fruits, nuts, and vegetables, as well as flowers and ornamental plants. The horticulture industry is dynamic and extends into all nations of the world. This course helps the student attain essential knowledge and skills related to technical aspects of horticultural plants, controlling common pests, and managing a plant business. Information presented includes classifying, propagating, and managing greenhouse and nursery plants, including fruit, nuts, and vegetables. Common pests and safe control practices are discussed as well as identifying and maintaining hand and power tools and equipment and identifying options and opportunities for ownership of a business.
