ENGINEERING GRAPHICS (EG) GRADE LEVEL: 9-12 One Year [New students will not be accepted at mid-semester] Prerequisite: None Engineering Graphics is a communication technique where ideas which will ultimately become a mechanical part, product, device or even a building are illustrated on paper. Students will begin with lettering, line use, and dimensioning with a T-square and drafting board. As skills improve, student will use the modern drafting machine for illustrations and graduate to the computer aided drafting (CAD). Students will design pump and compressor applications and final-fit actual equipment to check accuracy of their work. Heavy emphasis is placed on practical applications for drafting. Students must have basic mathematics skills using decimals and fractions. Measurement using rulers and/or precision equipment performed every day. This CAD program is AutoCad -- the most widely accepted design program in use today. [top]
MANUFACTURING SYSTEMS
(MS) Study of the world of manufacturing and analyzing how a product is made from the initial design idea through production and marketing. Classroom shop is completely equipped and class will design, produce, and market a product using the skills acquired in the course. Students will do cost studies to determine the final selling price of the product and organize sales and recordkeeping networks. Our student organization will set marketing strategies and perform design changes to improve the product and/or profitability. All students must understand and follow safe shop practice rules. [top]
INTRODUCTION
TO TRANSPORTATION SERVICE CAREERS A cluster course designed to provide a broad basic understanding of career opportunities and training requirements and introduce skills in six transportation-related service careers: aircraft mechanics, auto body and collision repair, automotive technology, diesel engine mechanics, small engine repair, and marine engine mechanics. Instruction includes safety and career opportunities.
AUTOMOTIVE
SPECIALIZATION
A pre-employment
laboratory course designed to provide job specific training for
entry-level employment in one of five specialty service careers: diesel
mechanic, automotive electrician, brake and wheel alignment mechanic,
automotive power train mechanic, or bus mechanic. All areas include
safety and career opportunities.
