Four Barbers Hill High School French students placed in the Top 10 at the 45th Annual Texas State French Symposium competition held in early April Top 10 winners included: Alessa Hutter, 4th in French I Poetry Recitation; Jennifer Meeks, 6th in French II Culture Test; Jennifer DuBose, 3rd in French Project "Festivals of France" and Mary Mudd, 6th in French I Culture Test. French teacher is Madame Patty Gonzales.

High School: Victoria High School in Victoria, Texas

College: Associate in Arts degree from Wharton County Junior College and my Bachelor of Arts degree from Texas Lutheran University.

Years with Barbers Hill: This is my 26^th year at Barbers Hill. I started teaching here during the 1982-83 school year.

Married: I am married to the former Darlene Thompson (’72 graduate of BH). June 2, 2008 will mark 18 wonderful years of marriage.

Children: Our oldest son Colby lives in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. He has provided us with three grandkids Mica, Caeden, and Crewe. Our daughter Adrienne lives in the Miami area has one son, Gavin. Our youngest son Nathan lives in the Barbers Hill area and has a daughter, Kyla Jo.

Hobbies: I spend most of my time promoting Barbers Hill athletes and the athletic program. Outside of that I enjoy collecting all sorts of things.

Any other information, such as church affiliation, civic club memberships, or even types of pets: I am a member of Old River Baptist Church. I have a soft spot in my heart for animals. I have seven dogs (BoBo, Ginger, Slugger, Posh, Coral, Yogi and BooBoo) and three cats (Gizmo, Funny Face, and Prissy).

I am not a Barbers Hill graduate but I will probably be an Eagle for the rest of my life. I can’t imagine moving away from the area. I look forward to retiring and spending my final years with my wife and grandkids while attending as many Barbers Hill athletic events as possible. -GIl Stalbaum
