1.
Attendance is monitored daily. While
attendance remains at 90% or above
we are:
a.
Providing and encouraging the use of hand
sanitizer through the day
b.
Cleaning buildings and classrooms more frequently
c.
Providing and encouraging the use of tissues any
time students are
sneezing and/or coughing
d.
Monitoring students for flu symptoms
2.
If attendance drops below 90%, we will require
students who are diagnosed
with the flu to remain at home for a minimum of 7
days following the
diagnosis.
3.
If attendance drops below 80%, we will consider
the closure of schools with the advice of county and
state officials. This is a last resort as many schools
report an increased number of cases when students are
exposed while away from the school environment.
4.
Our District Head Nurse, Colleen Goundrey is in
constant contact with the County Health Department, the
Centers for Disease Control and the Texas Education
Agency through e-mail, conference calls and website
postings in order to know and advise the school district
on the most appropriate responses during this flu
outbreak.
