Dear Parents,
Welcome to Barbers Hill Primary School!
We are excited about starting a new school year with your
child. The purpose of this letter is to give you a better
understanding of our classroom management plan in place for
our campus.
Primary School’s Discipline
Management Plan
Students will be
expected to follow the Baby Eagle Code:
1.
Respect Others
2.
Raise your hand to talk or leave your seat.
3.
Be kind to your classmate or others.
4.
Follow all directions.
5.
Walk in a safe and quiet manner.
6.
Keep hands, feet and objects to yourself.
Each student’s
behavior will be monitored and reported to parents using a
color coded system. Behavior will be reported to parents on
a daily basis in the student agenda. Students will record
which color he/she earned in his/her agenda for the day.
Parents are to sign or initial the agenda daily. Teachers
will track and report behavior using one of the following
tools: library card pockets and colored strips or shapes of
paper; color coded yard sticks and clothes pins or color
coded yard sticks and name magnets. The color coded system
will indicate the following:
Blue
= Excellent – No rule infractions- Positive Consequence
Green = Good – Warning- Move Down One Color
Yellow = Needs Improvement- Negative Consequence
Red
= Unsatisfactory- Negative Consequence/Lose Privileges
*Severe
offences (fighting, stealing, verbally abusive…) may require
an office referral and will negate the progressive color
coded system.
In general,
discipline shall be progressively administered so that
penalties increase due to the severity or persistence of the
misbehavior. Duration and severity of
consequences depend on the offense, the nature of the
violation, and its overall effect upon the welfare and
learning of other students.
*Note that all students will start each day on blue.

Rewards and Consequences:
Positive and
negative consequences will be administered according to
student’s choice of behavior. Examples of positive
consequences include: Super Citizen Party Invitation and
Recognition, Student of the Day Awards, stickers, verbal
praise, stamps, etc. Examples of negative consequences
include: verbal reprimands, time out, removal of privileges,
special seating arrangements, office referral, etc. The
student handbook (page 10) lists additional consequences.
Grading
Students will
receive a conduct grade based on the behavior reported to
you on a daily basis in the agenda. A point system will be
used to determine the conduct grade and determine which
students will attend the “Super Citizen Party.” A total of
points will be added together at the end of each six weeks
to determine the conduct grade. Points will be assigned
based on the color your child is on at the end of the
instructional day. The colors are assigned the following
point system:
|
