Barbers Hill
ISD is a suburban district encompassing 192.3 square miles in
western
Chambers County, Texas, strategically located at the
intersection of Interstate 10 and State Highway 146. Its borders
consist of the Trinity River on the east to Harris County line
on the west; from Trinity Bay on the south to Liberty County
line on the North. This large area contains four distinct
communities (Mont Belvieu, Old River-Winfree, Cove, and Beach
City) brought together by a common bond: the school
system.
Barbers Hill has
experienced a fast annual growth rate, recently reaching 9.5% and has approximately
3900 students. Barbers Hill High School (9-12) with approximately
1100 students is joined by a middle
school (7-8), an intermediate school (5-6), an elementary school
(3-4), a primary school (1-2), a kindergarten center (PK-K) and
an alternative campus.
There are several construction projects on-going for a
growing district. A new elementary is planned
for the near future.
The middle school is in its fifth
year as a 1:1 campus, and the high school is
in its third year. At this time, every student and teacher
in grades 7 - 12 has his/her own laptop for academic
purposes. Plans are underway to pilot the 1:1 concept in
the 6th grade.

For the 2008 - 2010 school years,
Barbers Hill ISD joins
UIL District
19 - 4A in
both academics and athletics.
