About BHISD

For 2010 our accountability rating was: EXEMPLARY.

Barbers Hill ISD is a suburban district encompassing 192.3 square miles in western Chambers County, Texas, strategically located at the intersection of Interstate 10 and State Highway 146. Its borders consist of the Trinity River on the east to Harris County line on the west; from Trinity Bay on the south to Liberty County line on the North. This large area contains four distinct communities (Mont Belvieu, Old River-Winfree, Cove, and Beach City) brought together by a common bond: the school system.

Barbers Hill has experienced a fast annual growth rate, recently reaching 9.5% and has approximately 4500 students. Barbers Hill High School (9-12) with approximately 1200 students is joined by a middle school (7-8), an intermediate school (5-6), an elementary school (3-4), a primary school (1-2), a kindergarten center (PK-K) and an alternative campus. There are several construction projects on-going for a growing district. New elementary campuses are planned for the near future; at that time the district will also have two middle campuses.

The middle school is in its seventh year as a 1:1 campus, the high school is in its fifth year, and the sixth grade is beginning its second year. At this time, every student in grades 6 - 12 has his/her own laptop used 24/7 for academic purposes.

From its curriculum to technology and its athletics programs, Barbers Hill Independent School District is truly a Tradition of Excellence.
