Barbers Hill
ISD is a suburban district encompassing 192.3 square miles in
western
Chambers County, Texas, strategically located at the
intersection of Interstate 10 and State Highway 146. Its borders
consist of the Trinity River on the east to Harris County line
on the west; from Trinity Bay on the south to Liberty County
line on the North. This large area contains four distinct
communities (Mont Belvieu, Old River-Winfree, Cove, and Beach
City) brought together by a common bond: the school
system.
Barbers Hill has
experienced a fast annual growth rate, recently reaching 9.5% and has approximately
3400 students. Barbers Hill High School (9-12) has approximately
1100 students and is joined by a middle
school (7-8), an intermediate school (5-6), an elementary school
(3-4), a primary school (1-2) and a kindergarten center.
Construction is currently under way to enlarge the high school, and other important areas for a
growing district. In addition, a new elementary is planned
for the near future.
For 2007 our accountability rating
was: RECOGNIZED.
The middle school is in its fourth
year as a "one-to-one" campus, and the high school is
in its second year. At this time, every student and teacher
in grades 7 - 12 has his/her own laptop for academic
purposes.

For the 2006 - 2008 school years,
Barbers Hill ISD joins
UIL District 21 - 4A in
both academics and athletics.
