In response to steady growth, BHISD Board of Trustees called for a Bond election that addresses significant areas of growth-related need throughout the district. The $120 million bond would bring no increase to the tax rate. Included in the bond would be a new Early Childhood Center for grades PreK through 1st grade, additions to both middle schools, and technology, buses, and safety items. Barbers Hill High School seniors Kade Davis, Neely Venters, and Blake Lee testified in favor of House Bill 3512, authored by Representative Wayne Faircloth, in a Higher Education Committee Hearing on Wednesday. HB 3512 allows competition in permitting local taxpayers a choice on where their tax monies are allocated.
