Barbers Hill's Planning and Operations department consists of five distinct groups and provides the backbone of support for the educational facilities of the district. From air conditioning to the transportation fleet, Planning and Operations makes the business of educating students possible. Energy Management

The Energy Department is located within the Maintenance Department and is an integral part of the day-to-day operations at Barbers Hill. Diligently striving to maintain the Tradition of Excellence, the Energy Department is dedicated to being a good steward of the tax payers financial resources and committed to protecting the Southeast Texas environment. With that in mind, the department works hard to conserve energy to ensure the comfort of students and staff alike. They also enhance the learning environment by saving money allocated to utility bills and putting it back towards other budgetary needs.

The grounds crew for the district consists of nine men who are responsible for maintaining the facility grounds and athletic fields, which totals approximately 250 acres. The mowing incurred each day is approximately equal to 25 miles. Each facility is on a set schedule to ensure the grounds are properly maintained. When there is inclement weather, the grounds crew will assist the maintenance and operations department with work orders and other outstanding jobs or projects that need to be completed.


The maintenance section of P&O is responsible for all repairs and maintenance of district facilities and state-of-the-art high volume air condition system. It is the maintenance department's responsibility to remain compliant with Federal, State and Local safety laws by inspecting playgrounds, buildings, and equipment. The department manages pest control schedules of all facilities. The department also saves taxpayer dollars by completing routine and complex construction projects in-house.


The BHISD Operations Department is responsible for providing custodial services, transportation services, addressing mechanical needs, providing mail services, package shipping and delivery, handling key/lock issues, and providing a safe, secure and orderly environment throughout the district.

Our first priority is to maintain our school district facilities to the highest standards and provide exceptional support to students, staff and the community.


The Mission of the Barbers Hill ISD Transportation Department is to contribute to the educational program by safely transporting students in a safe, reliable and respectful manner in the communities of Mont Belvieu, Cove, Beach City and Old River-Winfree. Our goals in fulfilling this mission are:

  • All Transportation personnel will ensure that all students are transported to and from home safely.
  • All Drivers will achieve 100% route completion without incident or accident.
  • All Drivers will arrive on time at their assigned schools so that students are assured to receive 100% of planned instruction.
