Everyone Books

In this section, there are books for everyone to read and enjoy. Some books will be read by the children and others will be enjoyed by children with an adult reader.
Research has proven that the future success in reading is dependent on the "lap" time a child has before they are 5 years old. Recommended amount of time reading with an adult is 1,000 hours.

Reading Area

This area is filled with pillows, beanbags, rocking chairs and child sized couches. Children can relax and enjoy their books they checked out. Our goal at the Kindergarten Center is to develop a pattern of "Life Long Learning" by encouraging children to read for the enjoyment of reading.

Birthday Book Club

Photo of penguin wearing a party hatWe would like to invite you and your child to become a part of our Birthday Book Club at Barbers Hill Kindergarten Center. This is a great way for parents, grandparents and friends to honor a special student by donating a book to the library on his or her birthday. The donation for a birthday book is $15.00.

We have a special selection of new books in the library from which you or the student may choose. A bookplate with the child’s name will be permanently placed in the front of the book. Your child will be the first to check out the book from the library and may enjoy it for up to two weeks before returning it to the library for other children to check out. This is a very personal way to honor your child on his or her birthday and also help our school to add wonderful, new books to our library.
